Sustainability at Bitburger
Sustainable entrepreneurship has been a matter of course for us as a family business since generations. This is how we continuously work on making ourselves even more sustainable. For us, sustainability means harmonizing ecological, social and economic goals. As early as March 2013, Bitburger was certified in accordance with the requirements of the ‘Nachhaltiger Wirtschaften Food‘ (Sustainable Food Industry) standard. The standard was developed by the Zentrum für nachhaltige Unternehmensführung (ZNU, in English: Center for Sustainable Management) at the University of Witten / Herdecke and enables us to better systematize, measure and further develop our sustainability activities.
The strong brands Bitburger, König, Köstritzer, Wernesgrüner and Licher have been operating under the umbrella of the Bitburger brewing group since January 1, 2007.
A joint sustainability strategy was therefore developed for all breweries in the Bitburger brewing group. It describes the fields of action that are particularly relevant for us: climate & resources, work & future, product & responsibility as well as commitment & region. In each of these fields, we are already implementing extensive sustainability measures in Bitburg and at the other locations, which we are continuously promoting and expanding.
